in response to needs...   You're most welcome. As far as the food stamps, that should not be based on living with anybody. If you're legally an adult and have little or no income, you should qualify for full help - which is typically $200 for one person. I would reapply & check back into it. Who told you you wouldn't be eligible? I think you were given the wrong information or they misunderstood your circumstances.

Section 8 often has a long waiting list, so do apply asap so you can get on that list for the future. Try going online to your state's Department of Health & Social Services. There are other programs and various means of assistance for basic needs available as well, which are listed on the link I have included below. Since you have a child it will likely be a bit easier to get assistance from various programs, which is a good thing. Do you get food assistance as this time? If not, I would encourage you to apply for them asap, as we all need food in our bellies in order to survive, and getting into the system will also make you eligible for other forms of assistance automatically, like free cell and landline phone service, basic healthcare needs, etc. There are also programs which assist with getting families into housing, including some funds for the deposit and first month's rent, and again, these programs are typically through state assistance - DSHS or the equivalent in your state. The Salvation Army and Catholic Community Services offer assistance with one time rental needs, utilities, health care needs, clothes and food. I would suggest looking at each of these and applying. Getting help requires patience and persistence, but it's possible. Another resource at your disposal is 211 or 211.org. This is basically United Way and they are a directory of sorts where you input your needs, where you live and your specific circumstances and they compile a list of various resources which apply to you. Again, this and other information, resources, ideas and their respective website links are provided on the link I have included. Lastly, as far as school goes, I don't know what you've tried or look into, but, you can often apply for full financial assistance - particularly when you have no income - and your tuition, fees, books, and related costs will be covered, and also, you will normally end up with some extra money left over which helps with your basic monthly expenses. I hope some of this will be of some help. If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a message anytime. Best of luck and many blessings, Cat
